about

This compilation is a celebration of the first decade of Swedish Columbia!

It started with blog-house, an electrifying Busy P gig in Sweden, and a bunch of old punks on laptops back in 2008. This and Washington, D.C. DIY ethic inspired from Dischord Records that forms the spirit of Swedish Columbia. 10 years forward it took some interesting twists and turns with its connections to the indie video game Hotline Miami and expanding beyond the initial D.C./Sweden connections. At the end of the day, we believe that the slow blade does truly penetrate the shield (a quote from the book Dune) and that creating shared experiences and community will resonate for years to come. It’s been a decade and now we’re just getting started!

This compilation contains remastered and some reworked versions of old tracks as well as some brand new members of the fam with new material.

Notable additions are:

- BMK's rework of their 2008 blog-house hit with vocals by The Rapture's Mattie Safer and guitar by S. Cinca (El Huervo Daisuke + Tanimura Midnight)!
- Gecki returning with his Phantasy Star 1 cover song from his forthcoming EP!
- Marc UÅ (formerly known as Swan Sex) with his new bombastic track Pop! Pop! Pop! from 2019's Horus Torus album!
- Crystal Boys: Jonathan + Benjamin Söderstrom's neo-surf band of brothers!
- Jobs For America: Classic underground 1982 Washington DC modular synth punk reissue!
- Tittsworth & Friends: Featuring Chris Richards (Q and Not U, Paint Branch) on vocals with Andrew Black (Drums - The Explosion) and S. Cinca (Guitar/Bass - El Huervo, Frodus) rounding out the comp ending the era if you will!

The compilation was sequenced in a mix tape vibe so it flows nice beginning to end. So check it out that way on a long drive. (^_^)v

Thank you to everyone who have listened and supported over the years!

about

Swedish Columbia Washington, D.C.

Washington, DC DIY punk ethic for releasing electronic and outsider music since 2008.

The label roster began with friends from Göteborg, Sweden or displaced DC natives expanded to a worldwide nexus of sound. We believe that the slow blade penetrates the shield.

Our logo is a combination of the Washington, DC city flag and three crowns from Sweden's coat of arms.

Thank you for listening. Love.
